A Little More About Our Church
Every Baptist church is unique. First Baptist Church of Girard, like all Baptist churches, is self-governed, making its own decisions about staffing, worship, ministry, outreach, and the programs it offers and supports.
Our church enriches...
...the spiritual life of individuals and families through its worship services and other aspects of church life. We have Sunday morning worship for all ages and both Sunday School and Junior Church for children and youth. Throughout the year there are game nights, topical workshops, special services, and studies for adults and families, as well as plentiful opportunities to share meals with one another.
Our church connects...
...with caring ministries in our area and across the world to better serve our community near and far. Locally, we work with and/or financially support Neighborhood Ministries, Emmanuel Community Care Center and the Protestant Campus Ministry of Youngstown State University. For national and global relief efforts we collect donations for National Ministries of ABC-USA, as well as for Church World Service. Our youth are active in outreach projects through an annual weeklong work trip and sending care packages to servicemen and women. See the left column for links to each of these organizations.
Our church partners...
...with other churches through the Mahoning Valley Baptist Association, the American Baptist Churches of Ohio, and the American Baptist Churches, USA. American Baptists have long promoted civil rights, academic freedom, and women in the ministry. The ABC-USA today is the most racially inclusive Protestant body in the United States. American Baptist churches are also diverse in worship style, scriptural interpretation, and cultural mores. We are proud that this diversity of the denomination is reflected in our church family.
